LINCOLN
- The Abraham Lincoln Legacy Trail group and Healthy Communities
Partnership is working toward safe trails for non-motorized
activities and improved cycling opportunities in Logan County. As
part of their efforts, they are bringing a bike rodeo for all ages
to downtown Lincoln on Friday, May 20 from 6pm-8pm in conjunction
with the City of Lincoln’s first “Third Friday” event.

A bike rodeo is a bicycle skills event that provides an
opportunity for bicyclists to practice and develop skills that will
help them to become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes.
Emily Hauter, outreach coordinator for the trail group, is excited
to bring the event to Logan County children.
“Our goal is to provide an opportunity for the participants to
learn, practice, and demonstrate their bicycle handling skills in a
fun, noncompetitive atmosphere,” said Hauter.
The bike rodeo will feature educational stations regarding bike
safety and an obstacle course. Participants should bring their bike
and helmet. A bike safety station will be facilitated by Cub Scout
Pack 101. Children must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
“While our trail efforts focus on all non-motorized activities,
events like the bike rodeo help promote safe cycling and active
transportation in Logan County,” said Hauter.
Healthy Communities Partnership is a collaborative organization
comprised of community agencies, businesses and individuals striving
to create the healthiest community in America. HCP activities are
funded by the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation. For more
