 Led by former U.S. Solicitor General Ted Olson, Brady's legal team
requested the court rehear the matter en banc, meaning all 13 of the
active Second Circuit judges will decide whether or not an appeal of
their ruling on the Deflategate incident should be heard.
Olson, who has argued before the Supreme Court 62 times, filed the
petition before the Monday deadline passed.
The court is under no timeframe to decide whether to rehear the
case. If the court accepts Monday's petition, a stay of Brady's
four-game suspension will be ordered and he will be allowed to play.
If the court rejects the petition, Olson can petition the U.S.
Supreme Court. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the only justice
assigned to the Second Circuit, then would decide whether the high
court will rehear the case.

The House Committee on Energy and Commerce has found in a 91-page
report that the NFL improperly tried to influence a study regarding
the detection of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, in living
patients.
 According to ESPN's "Outside the Lines," Congressional investigators
have concluded at least a half-dozen top NFL health officials waged
an improper, behind-the-scenes campaign last year to influence a
major U.S. government research study on football and brain disease.
The report describes how the NFL pressured the National Institutes
of Health to strip the $16 million project from a prominent Boston
University researcher and tried to redirect the money to members of
the league's committee on brain injuries, according to ESPN.
The study was to have been funded out of a $30 million "unrestricted
gift" the NFL gave the NIH in 2012.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are hopeful injured first-round cornerback
Jalen Ramsey will play a lot this year.
But another 2016 draft pick is out with an injury, a week after
Ramsey suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee.
Seventh-round defensive end Jonathan Woodard injured his Achilles in
phase two of on-field workouts and had surgery to repair the tendon,
the team announced. He is expected to miss the 2016 season.

The NFL is looking for more information on Johnny Manziel's
involvement in a car wreck last month in West Hollywood, Calif. It
is part of a larger investigation into the former Cleveland Browns
quarterback's off-field issues, TMZ reported.
Manziel told police in April that he was the passenger in the
Mercedes-Benz S550 rental car that smashed into a light pole after a
night of partying, per the TMZ report.
Manziel's role in the crash remains unclear but neither Manziel nor
the driver was arrested or charged with a crime.

The Browns released wide receiver Brian Hartline. Hartline, a former
Ohio State standout, signed with the Browns in 2015 after six
seasons with the Dolphins. Last year, he appeared in 12 games with
four starts and totaled 46 receptions for 523 yards and two
touchdowns.

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with first-round pick offensive
tackle Jack Conklin on a four-year rookie contract.
The deal, like all first-round picks, includes a team option for a
fifth season, is worth nearly $16 million, including a nearly $10
million signing bonus.

Free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick hopes to re-sign with the
New York Jets even though the two sides have not been close in
negotiations.
Fitzpatrick and the Jets reportedly remain far apart on reaching a
deal. The Jets have offered Fitzpatrick between $7 million and $8
million per year and the veteran is thought to be seeking twice that
amount.

Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson, the 25th pick in the
2015 draft, was cited for driving left of the centerline in a
head-on collision early Sunday morning that sent former Duke
quarterback Anthony Boone to a Charlotte, N.C., hospital.
Boone suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. Thompson was not hurt
and according to reports, alcohol was detected in his blood. A
roadside test determined Thompson's alcohol level was below the
legal limit.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan continues to recover
from offseason back surgery but has not been cleared to resume full
workouts.
According to the New Orleans Advocate, Jordan is still working to
receive full clearance on his back.

Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu is working hard to
recover from a second torn ACL in three seasons and hopes to be on
the field for the season opener.
But Mathieu wants to make sure he's 100 percent before taking the
field.
