On Thursday, that was the case as a group of bicyclists passed
through Lincoln and came across none other than Lincoln Daily News’
Roy Logan. They spotted Roy because the license plate on his vehicle
relates to their mission, to follow the verses of the Bible found in
the 3:16’s. They look at not just the best known John 3:16, but
every 3:16 in every book.
Their goal is to find good people who are kind and friendly, but
they also have a theme for each day of their travels from California
to Maryland. On Thursday, the theme was “The Defenders of Freedom.”
As Roy visited with Joe, Brad, Deanna, Kai and Matthew. They
commented on how fitting it was that they should be in the city of
Lincoln on this particular theme day. They noted this city
represented very well, the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil
War, one of the most significant events in our American history. The
civil war exemplifies the freedom struggles of race in our country.
For this cause, many soldiers sacrificed their lives for the belief
that all men are equal. For this group, it is not just that all are
equal, but that all are the creation of God, and are loved by him.
They traveled on Thursday to celebrate those who believed that, as
well fought and gave their own lives for the lives of others.
The group is traveling by bike from California to Maryland, with a
goal of reaching their final destination on day 100. Thursday was
day 71 of their journey. Accompanying the bikers is a recreational
vehicle that is marked with the symbols of their mission. In
addition, when they make their stops and find the good people they
are hoping to find, they ask those people to autograph their RV.

They invited Logan to sign the RV, and he was excited to be able to
add his “Roy-Boy” to the side of the vehicle. There Logan signed
“Roy-Boy,” and wrote “Play Fair, Work hard, and Be honest,” and of
course always thinking about LDN, he added the LincolnDailyNews.com!
Thanks, Roy!
In addition to stopping and visiting with folks, the group mounts a
plaque somewhere in the area of each stop they make. On Friday
morning, Logan went searching for that plaque and found it on a tree
in town.
Logan said it was a neat experience and a good conversation with the
bikers. He noted they had said that they began their journey because
we hear in the news every day about the bad things and bad people
who are in the world. They knew in their hearts that the good do
outnumber the bad, and they just wanted a chance to prove it and
show everyone in the country that good, Godly people are still here,
every day of the week, all across the country.
The group has a website as well as twitter feeds and Facebook pages.
