“The Courthouse Foundation worked with Community Pride, the
National Honor Society and Mount Pulaski Christian Church to create
a fun event for all ages. There is already discussion for how they
can improve next year's event. Any additional organizations who
would like to join us next year can reach out to one of the
Foundation members or speak directly to Barbara Stroud-Borth,” said
			Foundation board member Jo Hilliard.

Children were asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the
Logan County Food Pantry and in return they were treated to food and
			fun.

Among the many costumes were several superheroes, like Captain
America and Ironman. Disney characters were also a favorite among
			the kids.

Adults got involved in the fun, too, as Mount Pulaski’s local post
office employee Carrie Pethy dressed up with her girls as M & M’s.
Grandma was also in on the act as a delicious looking M & M herself.

While some kids packed the courthouse to paint pumpkins and gather
treats, others spent their time playing games, like 9 Square, set up
on the courthouse lawn. Another large group of kids occupied the
maze set up with bales of straw on the front lawn. Whatever the
choice of fun, kids could be seen laughing and running all evening
long, while the adults watched and smiled.

The weather was absolutely perfect, too. No need for winter coats or
even raincoats on this late October evening.

Mount Pulaski Halloween enthusiasts invite you to their house this
evening. Trick or treaters should look for the turned on porch
			lights.

The courthouse steps were also beautifully decorated Saturday
evening with hand-carved pumpkins from local artist Rene Hubal. If
you would like to see more of Rene’s beautiful creations, stop by
her house this evening. She is located at 302 West Jefferson Street,
at the corner of Jefferson and Spring Streets, just a couple blocks
off the town square. She will have food and drinks for the adults
and full-size candy bars for the kids. You cannot miss her house on
the corner, which will be decorated with 36 pumpkins and will also
feature a flame-throwing headless horseman she made. Local handyman
Don Maxheimer actually made the flame-throwing device for her and it
is sure to be quite the attraction. Rene loves Halloween for various
reasons and truly goes all out this time of year.

Another local woman who enjoys Halloween is just down the street a
ways from Rene. After you leave the home of Ed and Rene Hubal you
can drive south on Spring Street to the home of Delmar and Sue
Stewart. Sue goes all out decorating her garage and like she readily
admits, “This is my time of year.” She is located at 900 South Arch
Street. If you travel towards the southwest end of town on Spring
Street going past the Mount Pulaski High School and under the
viaduct you will find Sue’s garage by turning at the second right
off of Spring onto West South Street. Look ahead and you will run
right into the Stewart’s house. Sue will have blowup Halloween
decorations in her yard and the place will definitely be lit up.
Inside the garage are her various Halloween noisemakers she’s
collected through the years and be sure to grab a candy bar on the
			way in or out.

So come on over to Mount Pulaski tonight between the hours of 5 p.m.
until 8 p.m. and enjoy an evening of Trick or Treat.
