Blue Jackets 10, Canadiens 0
Columbus embarrassed Montreal 10-0, handing them their first
regular season loss at Nationwide Arena on Friday. The 10 goals
scored by the Blue Jackets are the most scored in team history,
and matches the worst defeat in Canadiens history.
A franchise record 16 players recorded a point for the Blue
Jackets, led by Cam Atkinson, Scott Hartnell, Josh Anderson and
Nick Foligno, who had two goals each. Alexander Wennberg also
had a career-high four assists.
Sergei Bobrovsky earned his third shutout of the young season
with the victory, pushing the Blue Jackets record to 5-3-1.
Canadiens backup goalie Al Montoya made 30 saves, but gave up
all 10 goals as he stayed in net for the distance.
Jets 5, Red Wings 3
Rookie Brandon Tanev's second goal of the game, with 1:16 left,
broke a tie and led Winnipeg to a come-from-behind win over
Detroit at Joe Louis Arena.
Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for
the Jets. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who is from the Detroit-area
suburb of Commerce Township, stopped 30 shots.
Luke Glendening, Henrik Zetterberg and Justin Abdelkader scored
for the Red Wings, who lost their fourth straight. Goaltender
Petr Mrazek made 26 saves.
Ducks 5, Coyotes 1
Rickard Rakell had two goals and an assist to lead Anaheim over
Arizona at the Honda Center.
Antoine Vermette finished with a goal and an assist, Kevin
Bieksa and Jakob Silfverberg each tallied a goal, Corey Perry
added two assists, and goalie John Gibson stopped 21 shots for
the Ducks.
Jamie McGinn scored for the Coyotes, who conceded 33 shots on
