Nadal was plagued by the left wrist injury for most of the
season. The ailment forced him to withdraw during the French
Open and he also missed Wimbledon.
The 14-time Grand Slam champ experienced more pain while playing
in the Olympics in August and announced he would miss the rest
of the ATP season in October.
The Mubadala event, slated from Dec. 29-31, isn't sanctioned by
the ATP and is considered an exhibition.
World No. 1 Andy Murray is among the other players slated to
play in the event.
Nadal won the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters and the Barcelona Open
in 2016 and posted a 39-14 match record.
