[November 09, 2016]  Nov 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk is expected to be sidelined week-to-week with an upper-body injury, the team announced on Tuesday.

Faulk sustained the injury in the front end of a home-and-home series versus the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. The Metropolitan Division rivals conclude that set on Tuesday night.

"By the time we get home, we'll know more," Carolina coach Bill Peters said, referring to the team's upcoming five-game homestand that follows Tuesday's tilt.

Faulk's absence certainly will not aid in the defensive troubles of the cellar-dwelling Hurricanes (3-5-3), who have yielded an NHL fourth-worst 3.45 goals per game.

The Winnipeg Jets activated Tyler Myers from injured reserve and demoted fellow defenseman Julian Melchiori to Manitoba of the American Hockey League.

Myers has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, but could return to the lineup for Winnipeg's home contest against the Central Division-rival Dallas Stars (4-5-3) later on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Myers has two goals with six penalty minutes through his first eight games in 2016-17. Last season with the Jets (5-7-1), he recorded 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) and 72 penalty minutes in 73 games.

The Nashville Predators recalled forward Pontus Aberg and goaltender Juuse Saros from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.

In corresponding moves, the Predators sent forward Kevin Fiala and goaltender Marek Mazanec to the Admirals. (Editing by Larry Fine) )
