Lincoln College’s students giving back to the Logan County community to help those in need
Money and canned food donated to Lincoln/Logan Food Pantry

 

[November 12, 2016]  LINCOLN - Lincoln College’s Student Activities Board and Homecoming Court collected canned food items and monetary donations during homecoming week to support the Lincoln/Logan Food Pantry.

On Wednesday morning, the students presented a check for $1,175.00 and hundreds of non-perishable food items to the Lincoln-Logan County Food Pantry.

During homecoming week, students exchanged five canned food items or $5 cash for a ticket to the homecoming dance. In addition, coin wars determined who won the homecoming King and Queen Title.

Part of the Student Government and Student Activities Board’s mission is to continue to expand their involvement in the Lincoln Community. Fundraising for the food pantry is just one of the ways they are giving back this year.

Zach Landers, Coordinator of Student Services for Lincoln College said the decision from the Student Activities Board to give back to the local community and in particular, the food pantry was easy.

“The holidays are the busiest time of year for food pantries, and traditionally the homecoming dance has become a fundraiser for the Student Activities Board to collect food items,” Landers said. “This year we upped the ante by introducing coin wars and allowing students to pay a $5 donation in lieu of donating five canned food items.”
