- Jimmy Dale Rexroat, 80, of Normal, formerly of McLean, passed away
at 2:32 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at OSF St. Joseph
Medical Center in Bloomington. |
Visitation:
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016
at the McLean Christian Church.
Service:
10:00 a.m. on Monday, at the church

Obituary
Jimmy Dale Rexroat, 80, of Normal, formerly of
McLean, passed away at 2:32 a.m. on Thursday,
November 10, 2016, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center
in Bloomington.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the McLean
Christian Church.
Funeral services for Jimmy will be held at 10:00
a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016, at the McLean
Christian Church. Mr. Tony Billingsley will
officiate.
Burial will be in the McLean Cemetery. Military
Rites to be accorded by McLean American Legion
Burger-Benedict Post 573.
Jimmy was born July 20, 1936, in Russell Springs, KY
to Marvin Rexroat and Leora Leach Rexroat Nicholson.
He married Joyce M. Spencer of McLean on January 12,
1957. She survives.
Also surviving are six children: Dennis (Jennifer)
Rexroat, Normal; David (Linda) Rexroat, Roodhouse,
IL.; Jeanna (Steve) Grimes, Morris; Darin (Barb)
Rexroat, Hopedale; Laurie (Don) Moor, Taylorville;
Joe (Joy) Rexshell, Clinton; one brother: Barry
(Judy) Rexroat, Normal; 11 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren. |
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.
Jimmy served in the Illinois National Guard and Army Reserve. He
was a member of McLean American Legion Burger-Benedict Post 573.
He held several occupations early in life including baker,
farmer, and lineman, but he retired after 20 years as an
operating engineer with Local 649. He was an avid Cubs fan and a
staunch Democrat. He was well-known in the area as a very
talented wood carver, but he was most proud of his kids and his
wife of 60 years.
Memorials may be made to McLean Christian Church.
Final arrangements entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of
Atlanta.
