NHL roundup: Letang, Pens edge Isles in OT
NEW YORK -- Kris Letang scored 1:24 into overtime Friday night as
the Pittsburgh Penguins came back to edge the New York Islanders 3-2
at Barclays Center.
Letang's goal was set up by an impressive pass by Sidney Crosby, who
deked Brock Nelson and Shane Prince to the right of the Islanders'
net and passed to Letang, who fired the puck into a wide open net as
New York goalie Jaroslav Halak was stuck leaning in the other
direction.
Crosby and Trevor Daley also scored for the Penguins, who bounced
back from a 7-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
Goalie Matt Murray made 20 saves.
Brock Nelson and Anthony Beauvillier scored within less than a
minute of each other in the second for the Islanders, who have lost
four straight and seven of eight. Halak recorded 32 saves.
Blackhawks 3, Flames 2
CALGARY, Alberta -- Marian Hossa's goal with just 2:23 left in the
third period lifted Chicago over Calgary.
Hossa crashed the crease and tapped the puck across the line out of
mid-air after Artemi Panarin directed a shot at the Calgary goal
that bounced off Flames goalie Chad Johnson. Ryan Hartman and Brent
Seabrook also scored for Chicago.
Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan each had a goal and an assist for the
Flames and Troy Brouwer contributed two assists.
Blue Jackets 4, Rangers 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus set a club record with their seventh
consecutive home win, beating New York in Nationwide Arena.

The Blue
Jackets scored the go-ahead goal short-handed at 11:35 of the third
period. Matt Calvert, who left blood on the ice earlier in the game
after taking a puck to the forehead, found the net while teammate
David Savard was in the penalty box for cross-checking. Sam Gagner
and William Karlsson also scored and Boone Jenner added an empty-net
goal.
Mika Zibanejad and Michael Grabner scored for the Rangers.
Capitals 1,
Red Wings 0
WASHINGTON -- Jay Beagle scored with 5:11 left in the game, Braden
Holtby stopped 25 shots, and Washington defeated Detroit.
Just moments after Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard made a nice save on
Beagle in front of the net, Beagle swiped in the rebound of a Dmitry
Orlov shot for his fourth goal of the season.
Braden Holtby picked up his first shutout of the season and 24th of
his career.
Hurricanes 3, Canadiens 2
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jeff Skinner, Teuvo Teravainen and Victor Rask
scored less than six minutes apart in the third period as Carolina
rallied past Montreal.
Ron Hainsey assisted on the first two Carolina goals with shots from
the point as the Hurricanes won their third straight. Cam Ward
stopped 31 shots to improve to 4-1-2 in November.
Andrew Shaw and Jeff Petry scored for the Canadiens.
