 The school has added classrooms to accommodate the extra students
coming in due to the closing of Jefferson School. Principal Chris
Allen said enrollment has increased by about 75 students with the
students from Jefferson School. Enrollment has gone from 175 to 250.
The closing brought four teachers over from Jefferson School.
Allen said they added kindergarten, first, and second grade
classrooms since they previously only had one section for each of
those grades.
Also added were an early childhood classroom, a new library, a
larger front office, two computer labs, a sensory room, a new
kitchen, and a new cafeteria.

In the older part of the building, several classes have moved around
so grade levels are next to one another. In those classrooms there
are some new cabinets and counter space.
Double doors now lead into the building's entrance and visitors must
be buzzed in. Security doors lead out to the playground.
Allen said a geothermal heating and cooling system installed a few
years ago has been more efficient and makes the building much more
comfortable during hot weather.
Though the main renovations are complete, Allen said next year, they
plan to renovate existing floors to match them up to the newer part
of the building.
Allen said the funding for the renovations came from the one cent
sales tax passed by the county in 2011. The projects done over the
past couple of years have cost around $3 million.
As visitors looked through the building, many visitors exclaimed how
nice it looked with the addition and renovations.
