10/06/2016 NFL Note - * Free Agents Williams, Karlos
RB Karlos Williams is expected to re-sign with Buffalo after serving
a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse
policy.
Williams wrote on his Twitter account that, "The return is gonna be
so sweet," and ESPN reported that he was scheduled to visit Thursday
with the Bills, who released the 2015 fifth-round pick in August
after his suspension was levied.
Williams, 23, rushed for 517 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie,
but battled multiple injuries and then showed up to training camp
out of shape. A free agent after his release, Williams became
eligible to play again this week.
LeSean McCoy leads the Bills with 297 yards on 67 carries, and has
84 touches through four games. Backups Mike Gillislee, Jonathan
Williams and Reggie Bush have combined for 15 carries and 18
touches, with Bush inactive the past two weeks.
The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Williams averaged 5.6 yards per carry as a
rookie and is considered a strong physical runner who serves as a
good complement to the versatile McCoy.

joining the team prior to Week 1.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New York Giants Apple, *Eli
CB Eli Apple (hamstring) was limited in Thursday's practice. Apple
seemed to be moving around much better during the team drills open
to the media. He said he was able to open up a bit but added that
he's not quite there yet. Regardless, Apple is optimistic about his
chances of returning Sunday night versus the host Green Bay Packers
(8:30 p.m., ET).
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New York Giants Newhouse, Marshall
RT Marshall Newhouse (calf) was not at Thursday's practice after
making an appearance Wednesday. Newhouse is not expected to play
Sunday night versus the host Green Bay Packers (8:30 p.m., ET).
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New York Giants Jennings, Rashad
RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) continues to be limited in practice. With

until his thumb is fully healed
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New York Giants Rodgers-Cromartie, Dominique
CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin) was limited in Thursday's

NFL Note - New York Giants Vernon, Olivier

WR Stefon Diggs.sat out practice for the second straight day on
Thursday due to a groin injury. The 22-year-old wideout had five
receptions for 47 yards in Minnesota's 24-10 victory over the New

372 yards and one touchdown this season for the Vikings (4-0), who
host the Houston Texans (3-1) on Sunday.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Minnesota Vikings Diggs, Stefon
WR Stefon Diggs (groin) missed practice for the second straight day
Thursday. Diggs was on the injury report with a groin injury before
the last two games and still played. But after back-to-back 100-yard
games, he has had a combined 87 yards in the past two games. So the
groin issue could be affecting him.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Minnesota Vikings Rudolph, Kyle
TE Kyle Rudolph (clavicle/rib) was upgraded to limited in practice
Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice. If Rudolph can't play,
it will snap a three-game streak with a touchdown reception. He has
all three red-zone touchdown passes from Sam Bradford this season.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Minnesota Vikings Floyd, Sharrif
DT Sharrif Floyd (knee) missed practice for the second straight day

arthroscopic knee surgery to remove cartilage. He missed four games
when he had a similar procedure done last season.

the most versatile of the tight ends and can line up anywhere from
the backfield to split wide.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Minnesota Vikings Smith, Andre
RT Andre Smith (triceps) missed practice for the second straight day
Thursday. Smith was knocked out of Monday night's game midway
through the first quarter. Jeremiah Sirles replaced him and played
as well if not better as the Vikings scored all 24 of their points
with Sirles in the game. The line didn't allow a sack while
Minnesota topped 100 yards rushing for the first time this season.
The Vikings also scored their first two rushing touchdowns of the

TE Kyle Rudolph participated in practice on Thursday after being
bothered by a clavicle/rib injury sustained against the Giants.
Rudolph has caught a touchdown pass in each of Sam Bradford's three
games with Minnesota.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New England Patriots Edelman, Julian
WR Julian Edelman (foot) was added to the injury report after being
limited in practice on Thursday. Edelman missed most of the summer
and offseason after a follow-up surgery for the broken foot he
suffered last season, although it is not known whether that is
related to the current injury.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New England Patriots Cannon, Marcus
T Marcus Cannon (calf) did not practice on Thursday, after being
limited a day earlier.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Lynch, Aaron
LB Aaron Lynch was removed from the roster-exemption list and
activated on Thursday. Lynch was suspended or the first four games
of the season for violating the league's policy on substance abuse.
He is eligible to play in Thursday's night's game against the

the game. The 49ers need a better pass rush, and Lynch had 12.5
sacks in 30 games (including 16 starts) in his first two NFL
seasons.
-----------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Chicago Bears Floyd, *Leonard
LB Leonard Floyd (calf) missed practice Thursday and Wednesday even
though Bears coach John Fox had said the injury was not serious
enough to keep Floyd sidelined after he was pulled from Sunday's
win. The Bears' pass rush, already inconsistent without injured
Lamarr Houston and Pernell McPhee, and with Willie Young held to one
sack so far, will be hurt if Floyd cannot play against the Colts.
-----------------------------------------------

that he misses his third straight game with strains in both
hamstrings.

multiple guys that have gotten here in the last week or month or
whatever and that's kind of the nature of the NFL," offensive
coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said. "Depending upon how healthy
different guys are we'll get everybody in that room as ready as we
can and have a plan ready for alternatives (if Ebron can't play)."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Green Bay Packers Guion, Letroy
NT Letroy Guion was upgraded from limited to full participant in

the pre-bye game against the Lions because of an aggravated left
knee injury.

from McDonald.

coach Chip Kelly initially sidestepped a question about whether he
would consider changing quarterbacks for the Oct. 16 game against
the Bills in Buffalo. "I don't think we're going to talk about that
tonight," Kelly said. Kelly, however, later acknowledged that he
would use the 10 days between games to assess every aspect of his
team.
Gabbert completed 18 of 31 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown
with two interceptions that led to 10 Arizona points. He had a
passer rating of 56.1 on Thursday and has an overall rating of 69.6.

Arizona.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Arizona Cardinals Mathis, Evan

Cardinals victory at St. Louis. "I think just throughout the course

two-year break since I was out there."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Arizona Cardinals Johnson, David
RB David Johnson rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on 27
carries as the Cardinals beat the 49ers. He increased his rushing

felt really good today. It helps out when those guys are blocking.
They're always blocking. It's usually me. I miss a hole or ... I
slip and stuff like that. It felt good to come out and run the ball
like we did."
