Obituary
Dennis Lee Rekart, 62, of Lincoln went to be with
his Lord and savior at 11:10 a.m. October 4, 2016 at
his home surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis was born October 26, 1953 in Peoria, IL the
son of Edward and Elnora Sawyer Rekart. He married
Teresa Robinson April 1, 1991 in Lincoln. She
survives in Lincoln.
Dennis is also survived by his children: Benjamin
(Whitney) Rekart of Lincoln, Cylie Rekart of
Lincoln, and Denise (Glenn) Ogle of Pekin; two
step-children: Derek Birdwell of Springfield and Amy
Birdwell of Lincoln; One grandchild: Alivia
Birdwell; two sisters: Lenora “Dee” (Mike) Baker and
Karen (Tom) Stewart both of East Peoria; and many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Dennis was a truck driver for 41 years and the last
few years he drove for Davis Trucking in Elkhart. He
was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Lincoln.
He was member of American Truckers Association, life
member OOIDA, Owner Operator Independent Driver
Association. |
Dennis enjoyed watching boxing and drag racing. He
loved classic cars and enjoyed listening to country
music and The Beatles; he achieved his lifelong
dream and saw Paul McCartney in concert. But most of
all, he loved spending time with his family.
Services for Dennis will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday
October 12, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev.
Mark Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from
4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday October 11, 2016 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Memorials may be given in his name to Zion Lutheran
School.
