Habitat to host sandwich fundraiser

- Logan County Habitat for Humanity will be sponsoring a Sandwich
Sale on Saturday, October 15th in the Lincoln IGA parking lot. The
sandwich sale will be from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. and will feature pork
chop and rib eye sandwiches.

Habitat for Humanity families, board members and other program
volunteers will be manning the grills and preparing sandwiches.
Information on the program, volunteer opportunities as well as
applications for potential participants will also be available. For
a $5.00 donation, you will be able to sign a stud that will be used
in the construction of House #21 which is a collaborative effort
between Habitat for Humanity and the Building Trades Program of
Lincoln Community High School.
In addition to purchasing sandwiches on-site, Habitat for Humanity
will be taking orders over the phone. Contact Habitat for Humanity
on the day of sale at 732-6412 and have your order waiting.
Logan County Habitat for Humanity nearing the completion of its 20th
home within the county. Habitat for Humanity’s goal is to provide
decent and affordable housing for those unable to secure it through
more traditional means. Eligibility is based upon need, income and a
willingness to partner with the organization.

Families and individuals chosen for Habitat for Humanity homes do not receive a
handout. Habitat for Humanity homes are financed with affordable no-interest
loans. Mortgage payments are made locally to Habitat for Humanity who in turn
uses the funds to build or rehabilitate other homes. In addition to a monetary
down payment, families must provide 350 hours and individuals 250 hours of
“sweat equity” into the completion of their home and the homes of others.
