Oct 20 (The Sports Xchange) -
Embattled New York Giants kicker Josh Brown won't be traveling with
the team for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams in London, a
decision related to the NFL's move to re-open an investigation into
a domestic violence incident in May 2015.
Giants president and co-owner John Mara said Thursday in a radio
interview with WFAN that the Giants are considering placing Brown on
the commissioner's exempt list. Mara also said the Giants won't wait
for the NFL to make a decision.
Mara said the Giants were aware of the abusive relationship,
including the need for security to protect Brown's ex-wife from the
kicker at the Pro Bowl.
New information was released by the state of Washington earlier this
week, prompting the Giants to decide that Brown won't play in
Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The NFL decided to is re-open its investigation into Brown in light
of the release of additional documents regarding his 2015 domestic
violence arrest.
Brown admitted to domestic violence in letters, emails and a
journal, according to police documents released on Wednesday.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy did not practice Thursday
because of a hamstring injury, and Josina Anderson of ESPN reported
via Twitter that he will not play in Sunday's game against the Miami
Dolphins.
Anderson also reported that she was told McCoy could miss additional
games as well.
Bills coach Rex Ryan was noncommittal regarding McCoy's status.
"We'll see how he progresses," Ryan said. "You know how I'm going to
do this -- with how he progresses the next couple of days. But, you
know, he was out here, able to watch practice. But hopefully we get
him back."

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco missed practice for the
second straight day, putting his availability in question for this
weekend's game versus the New York Jets.
Flacco told reporters on Wednesday that he expects to play on Sunday
and that the right shoulder issue is "nothing to worry about."

A final determination might not be made until as late as Saturday.
Should the 31-year-old be sidelined on Sunday, backup Ryan Mallett
will get the nod for Baltimore (3-3) opposite newly named starter
Geno Smith for New York (1-5).

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is in need of ankle
surgery and was placed on injured reserve.
Lacy already had been ruled out of Green Bay's game against the NFC
North-rival Chicago Bears (1-5) on Thursday night.

The Chicago Bears moved linebacker Pernell McPhee to the active
roster from the reserve/physically unable to perform list and waived
fullback Paul Lasike, the team announced Thursday.
The Bears need to put more pressure on the quarterback, and McPhee
is probably their best pass rusher. He had 7.5 sacks while playing
16 games in 2014 and had six sacks in 14 games last season.
By activating McPhee on Thursday, he is eligible to play in the
Thursday night game against the Green Bay Packers.
McPhee has not played since he got 27 snaps in a season-ending loss
to the Detroit Lions on Jan. 3. He has since undergone knee surgery
and missed all the offseason workouts. McPhee practiced for the
first time last Friday.
