Oct 21 (The Sports Xchange) - The Dallas Stars placed
forward Patrick Sharp on injured reserve and recalled forward
Gemel Smith from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League
on Friday.
Sharp hit his head on the boards after taking a hit from Kings
defenseman Brayden McNabb in the second period of Thursday
night's game against Los Angeles. He was removed from the game
and underwent concussion protocol.
The former All-Star and three-time Stanley Cup champion with the
Chicago Blackhawks has just one point, an assist, in four games
with the Stars this season.
Sharp, now in his 14th season, has 239 goals and 272 assists for
511 points over 679 career games.
Smith, 22, has a goal and a plus-two rating in three games with
the Stars this season. The native of Toronto was selected with
the No. 104 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2012 draft.
