Karl Luthin, DVM presents “The Perils of Traveling in an 1800’s Winter”

[October 27, 2016]   ELKHART - The Elkhart Historical Society will offer “The Perils of Traveling in an 1800’s Winter”, presented by Karl Luthin, DVM, as their Friday November 4th dinner lecture. In addition to having a busy equine veterinarian practice, Luthin also owns KEL Equine Productions which has been involved in numerous movies and miniseries.

Multi-faceted Luthin is often the on-site veterinarian, or reenactor, frequently providing props, set dressings, and horses, or as an advisor helping to insure the historic accuracy of the equipment or costumes being used.

Some of the productions he has been involved in are, “Gods and Generals”, “Glory”, The “John Adams”, “Into the West” miniseries, “Gettysburg”, “Cold Mountain”, and most recently providing a tremendous amount of equipment as well as the horse Daniel Day Lewis rode in “Lincoln”. Horsefeathers is located at 104 Gov. Oglesby St. in Elkhart Illinois, and the doors will open at 5p on Friday November 4, 2016. Reservations are necessary as there is limited seating, and can be made by calling 217 947 2238, where you are encouraged to leave a message. Forms can also be obtained and payment by check or credit card made at the Country Bumpkin103 Gov. Oglesby St. Tuesday –Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
