The Lincoln College women's
soccer team took to the road Tuesday night and blanked Illinois
Valley Community College 8-0 to earn their first win of the early
season. Sophomore Mykensie Ward (Athens, IL) led the Lynx attack
scoring two goals while Jaylee Swinford (Lincoln, IL), Miriam Lopez
(Waukegan, IL), Alexis Beard (Lincoln, IL), Jazmin Herrera
(Waukegan, IL), Samantha Shofner (Athens, IL), and Logan Paige
(Chicago, IL) each had one goal apiece. Swinford added two assists
while Paige and Ward each had one.
Head coach Syd Baker said of the win, "All around the girls worked
hard and earned the win. They have been working hard in practice and
they put everything they've been learning to use." Freshman Alexus
Nelson-Jones (Springfield, IL) kept the Eagles off the scoreboard
with some excellent defensive play.
The win evens the Lynx record at 1-1.
