Obituary

Leona M. Gesner, 72, of Lincoln, passed away August 30, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2016, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with Ron Otto officiating. Burial will follow in New Union Cemetery.

Leona was born September 25, 1943, in Buffalo, NY., the daughter of Henry and Amelia Spzaicher. She married Irv Gesner on July 27, 1989.

She was a cashier at Wal-Mart, Lincoln and enjoyed her job and the people. She was formerly employed at the bottle factory and the Glass House. She collected Betty Boop memorabilia and frogs. She was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are her husband Irv Gesner of Lincoln; daughters Debbie Horwood of CA, Kimberly Haynes of CA, Candi Gesner of Lincoln, and Mary Ann Gesner of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and sister Carol Demme of NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son Todd Gesner.
