Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers pick up a win at home to improve to 2-1 on the season

[September 07, 2016]   The Lady Toppers were victorious on Tuesday night. Mount Pulaski over Warrensburg-Latham. The Lady Toppers won the first set by a score of 25-15 and set second set 25-23.

Head Coach Donna Dulle was pleased with how her team played hard in the first set. “We played with a lot of intensity in the first set,” she said.

Her team fell behind 12-16 in the second set, forcing Dulle to call a timeout and get the team to focus. “I told them we needed to attack the ball,” Dulle said during the timeout. Attack is just what the team did and they fought their way back to tie the score at 20-20.

Even though they fell behind 21-23 in that second set, the Lady Toppers still seemed to be in control of the tempo. With the calm and cool sophomore Morgan May at the line, the Lady Toppers managed to earn the final four points of the set and make it a complete sweep of the Cardinals on the evening.

Mount Pulaski is now 2-1 on the season after defeating Athens last week. Warrensburg-Latham’s record falls to 5-4 on the season.

The Junior Varsity squad for Mount Pulaski also picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night, defeating the Cardinals by scores of 25-15 and 25-20.

Mount Pulaski travels to Greenview Thursday night. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
