The theme of the match seemed to be a balanced attack for Lincoln,
having their goals come from 5 different players. Although Lincoln
had less shot attempts, not as many on goal, and fewer corner kicks,
they still put up more goals. This has been a good year for Railer
soccer highlighted by unselfish play and noticeable team chemistry.
This is because a majority of these boys have been playing soccer
together through the Lincoln FC program, some for as long as six
years.
In Monday nights game scoring was provided by Aleck Bailey with 3,
Tate Sloan with one goal and one assist, Blake Jones (1), Ryan Boyd
with one goal and two assists, and Zack Prather (1). Jordan Jacobs
also provided an assist for the Railers. Lincoln ended with 15
shots, having 12 of them on goal. Keeper Sam Houpt had a big night
stopping ten shots and allowing only 3.
In Tuesday's game against Rochester, the Railers played hard and
came up short, in a narrow 2-1 loss. In this match, Lincoln with
limited attempts was able to find the back of the net on a shot by
Blake Jones.
[to top of second column] |
The Railers had three attempts with all three being on target. The
boys had to buckle down on defense, as they were tested by the
Rockets with 12 shots and 5 of those on goal. Keeper Sam Houpt had
three saves and allowed two goals.
The Railers will host Springfield Lutheran Thursday at 4:30 P.M. at
home. Come out and show your support for this team.
