Sept 15 (The Sports Xchange) -
The New York Yankees added veteran depth to their bench by signing
first baseman/designated hitter Billy Butler to the active roster on
Thursday, and transferred right-hander Nathan Eovaldi to the 60-day
disabled list.
Eovaldi will miss the rest of this season and all of the next
because of two tears in his elbow that require surgery.
Rookie outfielder Aaron Judge is sidelined for the rest of the
season with a right oblique strain, opening the door for the
30-year-old Butler, who was recently released from the Oakland
Athletics.

Minnesota's Joe Mauer, who had missed four games with a bad quad,
was back in its starting lineup as the DH.
However, catcher Kurt Suzuki is not likely to play for the Twins
until this weekend after suffering a five-stitch cut on his chin
Wednesday night.

The Baltimore Orioles recalled right-hander Mike Wright from
Triple-A Norfolk and will pitch out of the bullpen. Baltimore also
selected the contract of infielder Paul Janish from the Tides.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced they acquired outfielder Joey
Curletta as part of the Carlos Ruiz trade with the Dodgers.
Curletta, 22, spent most of 2016 in High-A and also spent 29 games
in Double-A.
The Phillies fired Triple-A manager Dave Brundage, according to the
Allentown Morning Call.

Brundage led the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to a playoff appearance this
season. Double-A manager Dusty Wathan was promoted in Brundage's
place, according to MLB.com.
