Amber Bausch (Moline) shot a two-day total of 190 (90-100) for the
Lynx' best finish. The tournament individual winner was Stephanie
Baribeau of Wisconsin-Platteville with a 154. Viterbo took the team
title with a two-day total of 646.
Lincoln's other scores included former Lincoln High's Anna Walters
(221) and Jaylee Swinford (222). Jenah Thompson (Mason City)
competed on Friday and shot 99, but did not have a score on
Saturday.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Lincoln College men's and women's cross country teams competed
at the Bradley Intercollegiate meet over the weekend. Competing in
the non-D1 division, the men's team took 3rd place out of 8 teams,
while the women's team finished in 6th place out of 8 teams.
Lincoln's Austin Webster (East Moline) crossed the line first for
all non-D1 competitors. Other men runners that ran in the top 5 for
the Lynx included Brayden Batterton (Delavan) (11th), Spencer Mellow
(Palm Coast, FL) (22nd), Juwan Riggins (Granite City) (42nd), and
Earl Armstrong (75th).
On the women's side, Sala Hanne (East Moline) took 8th place in the
non-D1 division. Hanne was followed up by Deanna Anglin (Chicago)
(24th), Jasmine Brooks (Joliet, IL) (51st), Iradukunda Josephine
(Rock Island) (80th), and Markayla Rodgers (Chicago) (113th).
Lincoln College head coach Brian Herron said, "Most of our athletes
dropped time this week but what I was more excited about was they
seemed to execute their own game plans better. They are doing better
at handling the distance and the competition level. We have to
continue to improve because our meets do not get any easier."
The Lynx will be in action again on Friday, September 23rd at the
Brissman-Lundeen Invite hosted by Augustana College. The women
compete at 3:00 pm and the men compete at 3:45 pm. MEN'S SOCCER
On Saturday, the men's soccer team continued its winning ways with a
2-0 victory over two-time Region 24 champions Lewis & Clark
Community College. Lewis & Clark recently won the Region tournament
in 2014 and 2015. The Lynx held home field with the weekend win and
a current two-game winning streak.

The two teams battled in the first half with no team able to find
the back of the net. The Trailblazers controlled the ball for the
first 25 minutes of play but couldn't get a good look at goal. Late
in the first half, Lincoln found their way past the high-pressure
defense and blasted one of the posts. Later in the half, another
Lynx scoring opportunity was turned away by the tough Trailblazer
defenders.
Second half adjustments by head coach Ben Massena and his team gave
the Lynx more possessions and several key chances at goal. At the 12
minute mark, Lincoln's Shevon Stewart (Kingston, Jamaica) dribbled
past the defender and found a wide open Petor Kromah (Springfield)
who right-footed a laser past the Trailblazer goaltender giving
Lincoln a 1-0 lead. Lincoln would not be done and added another goal
with 23 minutes left to play. Adrian Roman (Waukegan) took
possession and maneuvered past several Lewis & Clark defenders
before crossing the ball to teammate Cristian Castillo (Moline) who
beat the last defender and slotted it home.
Massena commented, "We sat back after we scored the first goal and
counterattacked and made sure we had numbers behind the ball and the
boys defended well against a very strong team. It's always a big
game against Lewis & Clark, and I'm happy that our guys stepped up
and found a way to not only win, but to keep a clean sheet."
The win ups the Lynx overall record to 3-2 on the season and
undefeated in Region 24 play at 2-0. Lincoln will host Heartland
Community College on Tuesday, September 20 at 4:00 pm and will again
be at home on Thursday, September 22 at 3:00 pm against Central
Methodist University.
