Obituary
Elma “Toots” Davis, 87, of Elkhart passed away at
5:09 a.m. Wednesday September 21, 2016 at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
Toots was born on February 18, 1929 in Milaca, MN;
daughter of Arvid and Tilda Johnson Anderson. She
married Louis James Davis on March 3, 1947 in
Minneapolis, MN. He preceded her in death on June
27, 2003.
Surviving are her children, Jerry (Sharon) Davis of
Sherman, Ronald (Ronda) Davis of Elkhart, Peggy
(Jeff) Blackburn of Sherman, and Anita Davis of
Elkhart, one brother: Roy (Shirley) Anderson of
Minneapolis, MN, one sister: Ruth Carlson of
Minneapolis, MN; Thirteen grandchildren, Kelly
(Randy) Bailey, Ryan (Jennifer) Davis, Kimberly
Beggs, Heather (Nathan) Fricke, Bethany (Rex)
Tschantz, Renee (Mike) McMahon, Kristofer (Erin)
Davis, Jeremy (Kara) Davis, Randall (Krista) Davis,
Korey (Melissa) Davis, Sarah (Derrick) Butcher, Rex
(Kim) Davis, and Josh Blackburn. Twenty three
great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Shelby, Andrew,
Justin, Lydia, Daniel, Jared, Tyler, Sarah, Grant,
Grace, Benjamin, Jackson, Owen, Scout, Deegan,
Kennedy, Broxton, Will, Keegan, Natalie, Kaleb and
Dekota. She was preceded in death by her husband,
one son James Davis, one sister Irene and four
brothers Melvin, Alvin, Charles and James. |
Toots was the bookkeeper for the family trucking
company in Elkhart and Elkhart Christian Church. She
was a member of Elkhart Christian Church, former Cub
Scout Leader, Women’s Council at the church, 40 year
Sunday School Teacher, Needs and Goals, and she was
in the church choir. She was happiest when she was
serving others and the Lord.
Services for Toots will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday
September 24, 2016 at Elkhart Christian Church with
Stacy Popejoy officiating. Visitation will be from
4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday September 23, 2016 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski. Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery in
Elkhart.
