[September 28, 2016]  MOUNT PULASKI - Margaret Ruth Baker, 88, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday September 21, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation:  4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday September 23, at First Christian Church in Mount Pulaski

Service: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday September 24, at the church

Obituary

Margaret Ruth Baker, 88, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday September 21, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Margaret was born on November 23, 1927 in Mount Pulaski, the daughter of Orville and Marjiella (Jones) Martin. She married Don Eldon Baker on May 11, 1946 in Lincoln. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Margaret is survived by her children, Ronn (Joann) Baker of Streator, Larry (Pam) Baker of Mt. Zion, Debra (Steve Battin) Pollock of Lincoln, Candy (Gary) Foss of Camp Point, and a special son; Kevin Baker of Dwight, her grandchildren, Seth, Audra, Bethany, Julie, David, Clint, Ian, and Ashley; her great-grandchildren, Trenton, Dawson, Cade, Owen, Lydia, Julian, Brock, Wyatt, Vincent, Kyrah, Adalyn, Ruby, Eli, Rylin, Hudson, and Olsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter; Mary Eileen, and brother; John W. Martin.

Margaret worked for Judge Leland Simpkins before staying home to raise a family. She later worked as the credit manager for Bo-Jac Seed Co. She made over 600 quilt tops that were donated to the Lutheran World Relief and also enjoyed painting nature scenes.

She was fortunate to have the opportunity of taking her entire family on a cruise last summer. She was a lifelong resident of Mount Pulaski and member of the First Christian Church.

Services for Margaret will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday September 24, 2016 at First Christian Church in Mount Pulaski which will be officiated by Mark Weber. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday September 23, 2016 also at the church. Burial will follow the services at Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Margaret’s name to the First Christian Church in Mount Pulaski.

Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home Mount Pulaski.
