IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH
125-year Anniversary
1409
Pulaski St., Lincoln
Free Organ Concert
April 21, 2017 at 7:00 pm.
In 1892, our founding fathers chartered the new Lutheran church in
Lincoln, Illinois. On July 3, 1892 the constitution for Immanuel
Lutheran Church was signed and adopted, and soon grew to 150
members. Their first church, built at the corner of Pekin Street and
Logan Street remained for about the next 60 years. As the
congregation continued to grow, the original building did not meet
the needs of the congregation. With a new minister and over 13,000
volunteer hours of labor, Immanuel Lutheran members built a new
church at 1409 Pulaski Street. This building was dedicated on June
25, 1961.
Immanuel means “God with us” and this is certainly true of our past
125 years. We are blessed to serve as an ELCA congregation under our
mission statement of “Living, Caring, and Sharing the Good News of
Jesus”. As part of the anniversary celebration, Immanuel Lutheran
Church will be hosting a free organ concert, by Springfield
musician, Mark Gifford, on April 21, 2017 at 7:00 pm. The church is
wheelchair accessible and everyone is welcome to join in this
musical evening. Find out more about Immanuel at their website:

KIDS’ WORSHIP — April 2017
The Ultimate Transformer — Resurrection
There is a lot of information in the Bible and seeing the whole
picture can sometimes seem hard to do! During the month of April in
Kids’ Worship, we will look at the big picture of how Jesus
transformed life forever. We will begin with the prophecy of Isaiah
and end with the Resurrection! Each Sunday we will see another piece
of God’s plan unfold. Our key verse for the month is “Everyone who
believes in Him will have eternal life” (John 3:15).
LINCOLN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY (LCU)
2017 Christian Women’s Conference
April 26, 2017
The conference, titled “Royal Treasures,” is presented for women who
seek spiritual renewal and Christian fellowship. This year’s
speakers are Liz Curtis Higgs and Susie Larson.
Nationally recognized, Liz Curtis Higgs has one goal: to help women
embrace the grace of God with joy and abandon. She is able to help
women understand and celebrate the truth of God’s love for them
through messages that are biblical, encouraging, down-to-earth, and
funny. Liz is the author of more than 30 books with 4.5 million
copies in print, with a strong love and passion for the women seated
in front of her, first row to last. Liz has also presented more than
1,700 inspirational programs in all 50 United States and 14 foreign
countries, and has spoken for Women of Faith, Women of Joy, and
Extraordinary Women.
Susie Larson comes with a passion to see women everywhere
strengthened in their faith and mobilized to live out their high
call in Jesus Christ. Susie is a radio host, author and national
speaker who hosts her own daily live talk show, Live the Promise
with Susie Larson. Due to her daily show, she is able to reach
thousands, as well as through her Facebook @deeperlifeinchrist.
Conference organizer, Linda Seggelke, has high hopes for the
conference, “We've welcomed countless dynamic speakers to our annual
Christian Women's Conference since its beginning in 1955… Of those
currently registered, over 140 have never attended our Christian
Women's Conference before.”
Regarding Higgs and Larson, Seggelke said, “Both are dynamic
speakers who delight in helping their sisters in Christ live the
abundant life as heirs... God's adopted daughters.”
Women from many parts of the Midwest will attend. For more
information or to register, visit: lincolnchristian.edu/cwc or call
217-732-3168 ext. 2255.
