Obituary
Ethel Buchanan, 89, of Lincoln passed away at 10:40
a.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at St. Clara’s Manor
in Lincoln.
Ethel was born on May 17, 1927 in Normal, of
Ferdinand and Martha Dillon McGuire. She married
Robert C. Buchanan December 12, 1970 in Lincoln. He
preceded her in death on September 12, 1995.
Surviving Ethel is her daughter: Vicki Gilbert
Ziemer of Charleston, ME; two step-daughters: Kathy
Danner of Lincoln, and Margaret Ellen Talbert of St.
Augustine, FL, son-in-law: Scott Ulrey of Watertown,
WI, one brother: Richard (Liz) McGuire of Towanda,
one granddaughter: Gretchen (Neil Greenberg) Ziemer
of Charleston, ME. She was preceded in death by
parents, two sisters, one brother, and one daughter:
Sherry Ulrey, and two grandchildren: Rachel and Joel
Ziemer.

Ethel was a lifelong Baptist. She loved all animals
especially her cats. She loved her family and
friends, the Chicago Cubs, going to St. John’s, and
she was very active in the Relay For Life, where she
was an honorary chairman, and also had a team from
Eaton Corporation, where she was a supervisor,
called Ethel’s Angels which raised a lot of funds
for cancer research.
A graveside service for Ethel will be held at 2:00
p.m. Thursday April 13, 2017 at Zion Cemetery in
Lincoln. A reception at the Lincoln American Legion
will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday April 13, 2017
following the graveside service. Memorials may be
made in Ethel’s name to the Humane Society of Logan
County or the American Cancer Society.
