The Hennings were traveling in an RV motor home they
and 21 other couples picked up in Elkhart, Indiana the week before.
There are 22 identical RV's traveling in a group across the country
on the Mother Road.
The Henning's recently celebrated Jensen's 66th birthday. Having
retired from farming in Finland, and turning their dairy farm over
to their son, the couple is now enjoying travel, with Route 66 being
among their first adventures in America. The group of RV-travelers
plans to spend four weeks traveling to Los Angeles, California
making stops at as many Route 66 attractions as possible.

Meanwhile, Monday evening, Alderman
Rick Hoefle reported that over the weekend 28 motorcycles made their
way into the downtown Lincoln, traveling the newly marked section of
Route 66.
Hoefle noted excitedly that he caught up with the group at one of
the downtown retailers. The city of Lincoln is hopeful that the new
designation of Route 66 in the downtown area will bring visitors who
spend dollars locally, boosting sales tax for the city and total
revenues for business owners.
