 “We look forward to every alumni reunion weekend, but
this year is special because of all the activity taking place on
campus,” Lincoln College President Dr. David Gerlach said. “Two of
the most visible changes are the new LCTV studios and the work
taking place at University Hall, where renovation and restoration of
the external brickwork is well underway.
“But, the most important changes are less visible,” Gerlach said,
explaining that he was referring to the expansion of academic
programs at the college, “With new degrees offered this year and
more planned for next year, this is an exciting time at Lincoln
College and we want to share it with our alumni and friends of the
college.”

Two individuals will be honored at the Alumni Dinner and Awards
Program, which will be held in the Jack D. Nutt Arena in the Lincoln
Center on Saturday evening. Phil Styles, class of 1987, will receive
the Alumni Achievement Award in Business Management and Danielle
Stanley, class of 2009, will receive the Young Alumni Achievement
Award.

The alumni dinner begins with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m. and
dinner at 6 p.m., followed immediately by the awards program, which will
conclude around 9 p.m. Cost is $30 per person or $15 for young Lincoln College
alumni who are still completing their bachelor’s degree. As with most Alumni
Weekend events, friends of the college are welcome to attend, even if they did
not graduate from Lincoln College.
On Friday, April 28, those arriving for the weekend will have an opportunity to
take self-guided tours of the campus, visit the Lincoln Heritage Museum on
campus, take advantage of the Scott Joslin Fitness Center and pick up Lincoln
College souvenirs at the campus bookstore (10% discount for alumni).
That evening there will be a wine and cheese reception from 5-7 p.m., followed
by a jazz concert at the Johnston Center for Performing Art, beginning at 7:30
p.m. The Lincoln College Jazz Ensemble will present Hot Latin Jazz. General
admission will be $5; with student and senior tickets available for $1. Persons
wishing to reserve tickets may call the Johnston Center Box Office at (217)
735-7280.
The reception will feature wines from Kickapoo Creek Winery of Edwards, Ill.
Admission is $10 and includes light appetizers and tickets for three
complimentary wine tastings. Additional tastings, as well as wine by the glass
or bottle will be available for purchase from the winery.
Saturday’s activities will kick off with a tour of the Dr. G. Dennis Campbell
Creekside Outdoor Center for Environmental Education led by Dr. Campbell. A
guided tour will leave from the Lincoln Center parking lot at 9:30 a.m., but Dr.
Campbell will be at the center throughout the day for anyone wishing to visit on
their own.
Guided campus tours will also be available from 10 a.m. to noon.
A brunch for all class years will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the
Carroll Family Alumni Room in the Meyer-Evans Student Center.
To give alumni better insights into the changes taking place on campus, a
special “Getting Back to our Roots: LC as a Four-Year College” program will be
presented from 1:30-2:30 in the Hostick Theater in the Johnston Center for the
Performing Arts. Alumni and others attending will learn more about the four new
bachelor degree offering coming in the fall – Community and Human Services,
Conservation Biology, Exercise Science, and Vocal Performance –and receive an
update on future plans for Lincoln College.. The session will also feature
performances by some of Lincoln College’s current vocal performance students.
An open house at LCTV television and WLNX radio will run from 2:30 to 4 p.m.,
prior to the cocktail reception and dinner in the Lincoln Center.
