coach Adam Gase confirmed Friday that surgery is an option for
quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who sustained a serious injury to
his left knee during Thursday's practice.
Whether Tannehill opts for surgery or not, he will miss
"significant" time with his left knee injury, league sources
told the Miami Herald on Friday. Several doctors will be
consulted, including renowned orthopedic surgeon James Andrews.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady neither confirmed nor
denied whether he sustained a concussion during the 2016 season
while answering questions from reporters for the first time
since the day after Super Bowl LI.
Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, said in May on "CBS This Morning"
that her husband suffered a concussion last season and in other
years.
"I don't want to get into things that happened in my past,
certainly medical history and so forth. I really don't think
that's anybody's business," Brady said after the team's practice
at Gillette Stadium. "What happened last year ... I'm focused on
this year and improving and working on things I need to get
better at."

The Pittsburgh Steelers extended the contract of coach Mike
Tomlin through the 2020 season, the team announced.
Tomlin, who is beginning his 11th season with the franchise, has
a 103-57 regular-season record. He has never experienced a
losing campaign and guided the Steelers to a Super Bowl title in
his second year as coach.

The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran tackle Austin Howard to a
three-year deal, adding experience to the offensive line.
Howard, 30, enters his eighth NFL season after spending the past
three years with the Oakland Raiders, who released him last
week.

The New York Jets signed defensive linemen Devon Still, whose
young daughter captured the hearts of millions during her cancer
fight three years ago.
The Jets also announced the signing of defensive lineman Jeremy
Faulk. In addition, the team waived/injured defensive lineman
Brandin Bryant and placed defensive back Corey White on injured
reserve.

The New York Giants reportedly received some good news on wide
receiver Sterling Shepard, who was carted off the practice field
Wednesday after suffering an ankle injury.
Shepard, a 2016 second-round pick, is expected to be "in the
clear" after the ankle scare, a source told ESPN.
