The Vertical was the first to report the hire
of Robinson, 55, Monday and the New York Times confirmed the
hiring through a source. Robinson has coaching and executive
experience on the college and professional levels.
Robinson's title with the Knicks is not yet disclosed. Multiple
reports suggested he will have a versatile role, including
player development duties with the Knicks' G-League team.
Robinson was a head coach at Brown from 2006-08 and Oregon State
from 2008-14. He was a vice president with the Milwaukee Bucks
last year season. He was in charge of player and organizational
development.
He joins general manager Scott Perry and assistant general
manager Gerald Madkins in the new-look Knicks front office.
Perry and Madkins were hired in the last month after Steve Mills
was elevated from general manager to team president following
Phil Jackson's dismissal from the role he held since March 2014.
Robinson and Mills were teammates at Princeton, where they
played for legendary coach Pete Carril.
