Cleveland Indians All-Star reliever Andrew Miller will embark on a
rehab outing at Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday and could return to
the team two days later, manager Terry Francona announced Monday.
Miller, who has been sidelined since Aug. 3 with patellar tendinitis
in his right knee, has progressed through bullpen sessions on Friday
and Sunday.
Miller owns a 4-3 record with a 1.67 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 54
innings this season. The 32-year-old left-hander has issued 10 walks
in his last 19 games (22 2/3 innings), eclipsing the nine walks he
had during the 2016 season (74 1/3 innings).

Tyler Clippard, traded out of a pennant race last month, is headed
to a contender.
The Houston Astros acquired the right-handed reliever from the
Chicago White Sox late Sunday night in exchange for a player to be
named or cash considerations.

The Toronto Blue Jays recalled left-handed reliever Tim Mayza from
Triple-A Buffalo before Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

They optioned Lionel Campos to Buffalo and cleared
space on the 40-man roster by giving fellow right-hander Taylor Cole
his unconditional release.

The Blue Jays recalled right-hander Chase Whitley from Triple-A
Durham.
Whitley replaced left-hander Jose Alvarado, who was optioned to
Durham on Sunday. Whitley is 2-1 with a 3.45 ERA in 31 games for the
Rays. He was optioned to Durham on Aug. 1.

The Seattle Mariners recalled right-hander Thyago Vieira from
Triple-A Tacoma, the team announced.
Vieira, who has yet to pitch in the majors, will take the roster
