- Hazel Owens,91, of Lincoln, passed away at 3:07a.m. on Monday,
August 14, 2017 at OSF ST. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Obituary
Hazel Owens,91, of Lincoln, passed away at 3:07a.m.
on Monday, August 14, 2017 at OSF ST. Francis
Medical Center in Peoria.
Hazel was born on December 14, 1925 in Marion, the
daughter of Rufus and Alta Mae (Hill) Shelby. She
married Lloyd Owens on November 21, 1945 in Johnson
City. He Survives her.
Surviving Hazel are her two daughters: Jean (Dennis)
Carter of Lincoln, and Barbara (Allen) Trago of
Clinton, one sister: Pearl Russell of Oklahoma, four
grandchildren: Angela Slayton, John (Karen) Carter,
Cathy (Bryan) Hickman, and Christy (Jeremy) Thayer;
fifteen great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by
her parents, three siblings: Bertha Dieckman, Leo V.
Shelby, and Bill Shelby, and one grandchild: Paul
Carter. |
A celebration of life for Hazel will be held at 6:00
p.m. Thursday August 17, 2017 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln,
with Robert Long officiating. Visitation will be one
hour prior to service.
Memorials may be given in Hazel’s name to the Ronald
McDonald House Charities or the Humane Society of
Logan County.
