The deal has an average annual value of $8.5
million.
The 21-year-old Draisaitl completed his third NHL season in
2016-17, setting career highs with 77 points (29 goals, 48
assists) in 82 games, and finishing with 20 penalty minutes.
Draisaitl, a native of Cologne, Germany, finished second in team
scoring behind Hart Trophy winner Connor McDavid and ranked
eighth among all NHL scorers. He also set a record for points by
a German player in an NHL season, surpassing the mark of 59
points set by Marco Sturm in 2006.

The Minnesota Wild signed free agent center Matt Cullen, who
decided to return for a 20th NHL season after winning
back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Pittsburgh
Penguins.
The deal is a one-year, $1 million contract plus $700,000 in
potential performance bonuses, the Wild announced.
The 40-year-old Minnesota native made a family decision not to
retire and instead return for a second stint with his home-state
Wild.
Cullen had 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 72 games with the
Penguins in 2016-17. He added two goals and seven assists in 25
playoff games to help Pittsburgh to another Stanley Cup.

The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Dominic Toninato to a
two-year, entry-level contract.
Toninato, 23, became a college free agent on Aug. 15 after
wrapping up a four-year career with Minnesota Duluth in 2016-17,
serving as team captain during his senior season.
The center registered 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) in 42
games, helping the Bulldogs capture their first-ever National
Collegiate Hockey Conference title and advancing to the NCAA
Frozen Four championship game.
In 151 career games with Minnesota Duluth, Toninato accumulated
91 points (54 goals, 37 assists) and finished with a plus-43
rating. ))
