Mrs.
Boehme and members of her sixth grade
class at Lincoln Junior High School
check out the eclipse on Monday. The
group took to the outdoors to examine a
unique occurrence in the sky using solar
eclipse glasses obtained from NASA.
While clouds filled the sky most of the
time, there were a few moments right
around 1 p.m. when the eclipse was in
good view.
Those who were outdoors may have noticed
a sudden return of the night sounds,
night bugs woke up and began their
"singing." The sky grew darker though
not to the extent that it did in
southern Illinois where many saw the
eclipse in totality.
Several students at LJHS enjoyed the
opportunity to witness the eclipse, all
of them gathering at the baseball field
where they were able to get the least
obstructed view

snips the ribbon at the new Lincoln McDonald's on Monday
morning. The new restaurant enjoyed a soft opening over the
weekend and a grand opening on Monday with a ribbon cut
hosted by the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
After the "adult" version of the ribbon
cut, Ronald McDonald gathered all the youngsters together
for a second event - a ribbon tearing.
LDN will have additional photos from the new McDonald's in
the Wednesday edition.
