Small farm grazing operation pasture walk set for August 23

[August 21, 2017]    The public is invited to join in an educational Small Farm Grazing Operation Pasture Walk on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 starting at 4:30 pm.

The walk will take place at the farm of Carzella Pritchett at 9223 Bell Fountain Rd., Dawson, IL 62520. Come see the small ruminate and beef cattle grazing operation and learn about current and past operations. Also learn the benefits of co-species grazing and the steps involved in a managed grazing operation.

This program is free and open to the public. Registration is not required but highly encouraged. You can register on-line at: http://web.extension.illinois.edu/lms/ or by calling the Sangamon County Extension office at 217-782-4917.

Directions:

From the east:

Interstate 72, take Exit 114. Turn South onto Buffalo Mechanicsburg Rd. Go approximately 1.0 miles and turn right (west) onto Mechanicsburg Blacktop. Go approximately 0.8 miles then turn back south on S. Griffith Creek Rd for 1.5 miles to Bell Fountain Rd. Turn west. Go approx. 3.04 miles and the farm will be on the right.

From the west:

Interstate 72, take Exit 104. Turn East onto Mechanicsburg Blacktop. Go approximately 5.2 miles and turn right (south) onto Clear Lake Rd. Go approximately 1 mile then turn back east on to Bell Fountain Rd. Go approx. 0.4 miles and the farm will be on the left.
