Dodgers 8, Pirates 5
Adrian Gonzalez's 2,000th career hit helped propel the Los Angeles
Dodgers to an 8-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night
at PNC Park.
Gonzalez led off the sixth inning with a double down the right field
line. After advancing to third, he scored when Corey Seager singled
to right, giving Los Angeles a 6-5 lead.
Angels 10, Rangers 1
Kaleb Cowart and Albert Pujols hit three-run homers and Los Angeles
remained a half-game out of the second American League wild-card
spot after a win over Texas.
Pujols blasted the 610th homer of his career in the seventh inning
to pass Sammy Sosa for the most home runs by a foreign-born player.
His 19th home run of the season gave the Angels a 10-1 lead en route
to their 10th win in the past 13 games. He is now eighth on the
all-time list, two homers behind Jim Thome.
Brewers 4, Giants 3
Hernan Perez threw out Nick Hundley at the plate from right field to
preserve a one-run lead in the eighth inning, helping Milwaukee hold
off San Francisco.
Ryan Braun and Travis Shaw drove in runs in a two-run seventh inning
for the Brewers, who rallied from a 3-2 deficit to win for the third
time in five games on their nine-game trip.
Red Sox 9, Indians 1
Doug Fister pitched a one-hitter and Eduardo Nunez had two hits,
including a home run, and a career-high five RBIs as Boston rolled
past Cleveland at Progressive Field.
In his third start against Cleveland in the last 23 days, Fister
gave up a home run to Francisco Lindor leading off the first inning,
then held Cleveland scoreless and hitless for the rest of the way
for his first complete game since Sept. 26, 2014.
Diamondbacks 7, Mets 4
Patrick Corbin earned his third consecutive victory, allowing one
run over eight innings as Arizona defeated New York.
Corbin (11-11) gave up four hits and two walks while striking out
six. The left-hander had his scoreless streak snapped at 20 1/3
innings when he gave up a homer to Amed Rosario in the fifth inning.

Royals 3, Rockies 2
Danny Duffy took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and Kansas City
escaped with a victory over Colorado.
Nolan Arenado's two-out, two-run homer off Duffy spoiled the no-hit
bid. Duffy (8-8) was pulled after six innings of one-hit, two-run
ball. He walked three and struck out seven. Mike Minor, Peter
Moylan, Kelvin Herrera and Scott Alexander (first save) finished the
victory.
Twins 4, White Sox 1
Minnesota shrugged off an early deficit and used three long balls to
beat Chicago.
Jorge Polanco, Kennys Vargas and Eddie Rosario each homered against
rookie Lucas Giolito, called up Tuesday from Triple-A Charlotte for
his Chicago debut. Kyle Gibson (7-10) allowed one run and seven hits
for his first victory since July 22.
Padres 12, Cardinals 4
Yangervis Solarte knocked in a career-high six runs as San Diego
became the latest team to plunder St. Louis pitching at Busch
Stadium.
Solarte capped his big evening in the eighth inning with a two-run
homer that traveled an estimated 455 feet, his 14th blast of the
year. He became the first player in franchise history to drive in
six runs in a game at St. Louis.

Marlins 12, Phillies 8 (Game 1)
Ichiro Suzuki, only two months shy of his 44th birthday, hit a
pinch-hit, three-run homer to break a tie in the seventh inning as
Miami won the opener of a doubleheader with Philadelphia.
Two batters after Ichiro homered, Giancarlo Stanton continued his
torrid pace since the All-Star break by taking Aaron Nola (9-9) deep
over the right field fence and knocking him out of the game. It was
Stanton's league-leading 46th home run and 99th RBI.
Marlins 7, Phillies 4 (Game 2)
Miami swept Philadelphia in the 43rd doubleheader in franchise
history behind a combined 23 hits in two games.
Four RBIs from Christian Yelich was just enough for starter Jose
Urena to walk off the mound after five innings with his 12th
victory.

Cubs 13, Reds 9
Ben Zobrist drove in the go-ahead runs with a pinch-hit, two-run
double in the seventh inning as Chicago rallied past Cincinnati.
The Cubs (67-57) moved 10 games above .500 for the first time this
season. Zobrist, who was scratched from the starting lineup after he
was late arriving from his hometown of Nashville, Tenn., because of
a rental car snafu, also had an RBI groundout in the eighth. Javier
Baez delivered a two-run single in the seventh.
Nationals 4, Astros 3
Tanner Roark recovered from a rocky start, and Washington claimed an
interleague win over Houston at Minute Maid Park.
Roark (10-8) pitched into the sixth inning after struggling early
before handing over a one-run lead to his bullpen.
A's 6, Orioles 4
Ryon Healy homered twice and drove in three runs, and Jed Lowrie and
Khris Davis also went deep as Oakland defeated Baltimore.
Healy (solo) and Lowrie (two-run) both homered in a three-run first
inning as Oakland took a 3-0 lead after just five batters against
Ubaldo Jimenez. In the fifth, Healy added a two-run homer. It was
his fourth multi-homer game this season, and he stretched his
hitting streak to 10 games.
Yankees 13, Tigers 4
Masahiro Tanaka came off the disabled list and pitched seven solid
innings, and Aaron Judge's record-breaking strikeout streak ended at
37 games as New York pummeled Detroit.
Tanaka (9-10) was making his first start since Aug. 9 after
recovering from shoulder inflammation. He held the Tigers to three
runs and six hits and didn't walk a batter while striking out four.

Braves 4, Mariners 0
Nick Markakis homered and drove in a second run with a single as
Atlanta defeated Seattle behind rookie Lucas Sims' six spotless
innings.
Markakis, who had three hits in the series opener, has a career .326
average with six homers and 30 RBIs in 69 games against Seattle. His
homer came in the fourth inning and his RBI single in the fifth.
Rays 6, Blue Jays 5
Kevin Kiermaier hit a two-run triple in the second inning to help
Tampa Bay beat Toronto.
Kiermaier was 2-for-5 and Wilson Ramos had three hits as the Rays
