On
August 22, 2017, Associate Judge William Workman accepted a fully
negotiated plea agreement and sentenced Loren T. Helton to 8 years
in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Unlawful Delivery of a
Controlled Substance.
|
The investigation was conducted by Lincoln Police using a Confidential
Informant. The Confidential Informant made controlled purchases of
cocaine from Loren Helton at his residence of 523 N. Adams Street in
Lincoln. The amount of each purchase of cocaine was less than 5 grams of
cocaine - which is a class 3 felony. Loren Helton’s residence, however,
is within 1,000 feet of a public park, which elevates the offense to a
class 2 felony.
