LINCOLN
- On Sunday, over 150 vehicles were on display throughout the day at
Memorial Park in Lincoln. The occasion was the second annual Shady
Car Show hosted by the Railsplitter Antique Auto Club.
Spread throughout the park, nestled under the many shade trees a
wide variety of vehicles were on display. Included in the collection
were antique vehicles, hot rods, rat rods, cars, trucks, a VW bus, a
few motorcycles and in general, just a lot of cool cars.
As visitors milled about picking their favorite, whether it be a rat
rod, a hot rod, a classic or an antique; there was something there
for everyone.
The car show was a participant judged show, meaning those who
entered to be judged, became the judges. Each person was to choose
their choice of best vehicle in a variety of classes.
Throughout the day there were door prizes given out to the
participants. Each entry had a number assigned, and the numbers were
thrown in a pot and drawings were held on an hourly bases.

The lady Railettes from Lincoln Community High School were on
hand, helping out by selling 50/50 raffle tickets with the drawing to be held at
the end of the day.
JD’s DJ service was set up and playing music throughout the day, and food was
also offered.
Some of the participants noted that they enjoyed having the show at the park
because it is a nice shady location, quiet and comfortable. They said they had
seen several visitors, and noted that there were folks who had come out because
they were traveling Route 66, and had seen a car show flyer.
