The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team kept their winning
streak alive Wednesday evening with a 96-43 win over the Lindenwood-Belleville
JV. Lincoln used a balanced attack and a solid defensive effort to
lead from start to finish in this contest.
Freshman Grace Schroeder (Gilman) led LC in scoring with 18 points
including four three-pointers and she pulled down six rebounds.
Sophomores Erynn Young (Indianapolis) and Nautica Preston (Chicago)
each contributed 17 points. Preston also added seven assists.
Freshman Elizabeth Bankole (Rockford) recorded a double-double with
16 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Kaleia Monteiro (Rockford)
scored seven points and tied Bankole for the team lead in rebounds
with 11.

“Our defense really got us going early and led to some good
opportunities on the offensive end,” said LC Coach Matt Vavro. “We
executed offensively very well in the 1st half and made some shots.
We shared the ball well and finished with 24 assists. I was pleased
with the 1st half, but thought we got sloppy in the 2nd and turned
the ball over too much. Hopefully we can improve on that going
forward.”
Lincoln (8-0) returns home this Friday and Saturday to host the 2017
Hampton Inn Classic. LC plays Carl Sandburg College at 7:30 pm on
Friday and will take on Sauk Valley on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
