[December 12, 2017]  ATLANTA - John D. Quiram, 74, of Atlanta, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at his home.

Visitation:   5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta

Service: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Atlanta United Methodist Church

Obituary

John D. Quiram, 74, of Atlanta, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on December 11, 2017, at his home.

Funeral services for Mr. Quiram will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Atlanta United Methodist Church. Rev. Mike Abel will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Masonic Rites will be accorded at 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Quiram was born January 5, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Gordon DeWitt and Dorothy Janet Cox Quiram. They preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter: Staci L. (Cary) Waggoner of Ocala, Fla.; two sons: Jay D (Jody) Quiram of Champaign, and Quentin J. (Lisa) Quiram of Waynesville; five grandchildren: Andi Dansby, John Quiram, Cole Quiram, Jay Gordon Quiram, and Cale Quiram; one brother, James G. (Sandy) Quiram of Sycamore; one sister, Janet L. (Ted) Glaser of Fremont, Mich., his fiancé of 30 plus years, Frances Leesman-Nollman; and three nieces.

Funeral Director

Mr. Quiram attended the Atlanta Public Schools, I.S.N.U., and was a 1969 graduate of the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis. Mr. Quiram operated the Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta from 1976 until 2006. The funeral home was founded by his father in 1940.

Mr. Quiram was a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church, past Master and 52 years member of the Atlanta Masonic Lodge #165 A.F. & A.M., and past President and 47 years member of the Atlanta Rotary Club. John was also a former board member of the Atlanta Public Library and Museum. Mr. Quiram was a former pilot and held and Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator's License through which his call sign was W9JQ. He was also a 40 plus years member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association. John also enjoyed playing with the Atlanta Community Band for many years.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
