Suspect arrested in connection
with October shooting in Lincoln

LINCOLN
On December 11th, Gerald L. Thomas,
26 of Chicago was arrested on Pekin Street at North Kickapoo Street
in Lincoln on charges of attempted murder.
Thomas is a suspect in the shooting
incident that occurred on October
1st.
On that date, Lincoln Police
responded to a call in the 700 block of Walnut Street in Lincoln to
a report of a shooting.
One victim
was found with shots to the chest and arm.
Witnesses reported there were two
black male suspects with firearms who fled the scene.
The following is an excerpt from
the October report submitted to LDN by Chief Paul Adams:
"According to
witnesses there were two black male suspects with firearms, one in a
dark blue Ford Escape and the other in a white Escalade with tinted
windows and 20” chrome wheels. Suspects fled south to First
Street and then west
on First
Street.

"Lincoln Police
conducted search warrants at the victim’s residence and therein
found a large amount of currency and crack cocaine. Lincoln Police
subsequently arrested the occupants of the residence, Alonzo Rose
and Jessica Harrington, for manufacture/delivery of more than
100grams of controlled substance. The victim and those involved are
prior residents of the Chicago area."
Thomas is alleged to be one of the
two suspects who fled the scene.
The public is reminded
that anyone is presumed innocent until charges are proven in a court
of law
