TREMONT
James Shafer, current CEO of The First National Bank
in Tremont, is retiring December 31, 2017 after a career spanning
43+ years with the Bank.
Shafer started at The First National Bank in Tremont in August,
1974, and held various positions until he was named President in
1986. He continued in this role until January, 2017, when he was
named CEO.
Mr. Shafer, a native of Chenoa, Illinois, is a graduate of Illinois
State University, The Undergraduate School of Banking in Carbondale,
IL and the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, WI. He has served
as a leader in numerous civic organizations in Tremont and as a
Board Member and Chairman of the Community Bankers Association of
Illinois, Chairman of the CBAI Foundation for Community Banking,
named CBAI Outstanding Member and most recently named a CBAI
Distinguished Member. He also served as a Board Member of the
Independent Community Bankers of America for many years.

A public open house for Jim will be held at The First National
Bank in Tremont, 134 S. Sampson St, Tremont, IL 61568 on December 28th and 29th
from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
