							 Susan ( Hammitt) Anderson, 51, of 
							rural Hartsburg, IL., died December 9, 2017, at her 
							home following a lengthy battle with cancer.
 Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon, 
							Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Holland Barry & 
							Bennett Funeral Home, Lincoln. Funeral services will 
							follow at noon. Burial will follow services at 
							Hartsburg Union Cemetery.
 
 Susan and her twin sister, Cynthia, were born at 
							White Hall Hospital on February 19, 1966, to Loyal 
							Fox and Donna Ray Powell. When they were four years 
							old, the twins were adopted by Wayne and Lois Anne 
							Hammitt of Meredosia. Susan graduated from Virden 
							High School. She was baptized into Jesus Christ by 
							her brother, Ryan Hammitt when she was in junior 
							high school. She married Keith Anderson in 1988 in 
							Emden and later divorced. They had four children, 
							Kasey Anderson (fiancé Nick Simpson), Karly Yakle ( 
							husband Joshua), Cody Anderson, and Colton Anderson.
 
 In addition to her four children she is survived by 
							one grandson, Kollin Bell Jr., one granddaughter, 
							Haven Elaine Simpson, and one other grandchild on 
							the way; her mother Lois Anne Hammitt of Quincy, 
							long time companion Ronald Schleder; brothers and 
							sisters: Steven Chilsted, Bruce Chilsted, Vicky 
							(husband Pat, deceased) Lyons, Teal ( Mark) 
							Cunningham, Douglas Fox, Julie Ryan, Gabriel Fox, 
							Dwight Hall, Phillip Hall, Cynthia Hammitt ( Keith) 
							Andersen, Pamela ( Randy) McElroy, Fred ( Sarah) 
							Hopper, along with her adopted siblings Royce ( 
							Lisa) Hammitt, Cheryl ( Tim) Eads, Ryan ( Lynda) 
							Hammitt, and Daniel Hammitt. Also surviving are 
							numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.

  She was preceded in death by her father, Loyal Fox, her 
							mother Donna, her adopted father Wayne Hammitt, 
							grandparents Bert and Ethel Fox, Hallett and Kathryn 
							Ray, numerous aunts and uncles, and nephews Travis 
							Cunningham, Jacob Lyons, and Jon Lyons.
 Susan worked for Long John Silvers in Jacksonville, 
							Springfield, and Lincoln, serving as manager for 
							several years. She also worked at a group home in 
							Lincoln, caring for residents as though they were 
							her own. She was a skilled cook, never afraid to try 
							a new recipe. She loved hosting large family dinners 
							and would begin planning menus months in advance.
 
 She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
