Lane Murphy of Mount Pulaski reached the elite milestone of scoring
1,000 points in junior high basketball recently.
Murphy is an eighth grade student athlete at Mount Pulaski Grade
School. As a member of the Mount Pulaski Bruins, Murphy scored his
1,000th career point on December 11, 2017 in a game versus
Warrensburg-Latham.
Murphy needed just five points that evening to reach the milestone,
but he didn’t know it. He found out after the game that he had
accomplished the rare feat. Luckily, family knew right before the
game that he was very close and they were able to capture video of
the moment.
Murphy was honored on Eighth Grade Night December 21, 2017 with
family and friends in attendance at the Bob Gasaway Gymnasium.
The Mount Pulaski Eighth Grade Team has a 14-4 record this season.
The Bruins are coached by Brian Erlenbush.
Murphy is the son of Tommy and Heather Murphy of Mount Pulaski. He
has an older brother, Dustin, and a younger sister, Alyson.
Congratulations, Lane!
