						ALMH Providing DSME Diabetes 
						Classes

			LINCOLN 
			- If you have diabetes and are looking to lead a healthier 
		lifestyle, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital will begin a new session of 
		Diabetes Self Management Education on February 15. The program is proven 
		to decrease complications of diabetes and is oftentimes covered by 
		insurance. |

			 The DSME program is facilitated by an ALMH certified diabetes 
			educator. The program consists of four, two-hour classes. The 
			classes will be held on Wednesdays on February 15, February 22, 
			March 1 and March 8  at ALMH from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in the 
			Wombacher Room. A Saturday series will also be offered consisting 
			of two, four-hour classes on March 4the and March 11th from 8:00 
			a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at ALMH in Steinfort Room B.
 Memorial Diabetes Services at ALMH is a Nationally Accredited 
			Program by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), 
			providing core standard diabetes education and promoting the AADE 7 
			Self-Care Behaviors.
 
			
			 Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) has been taught at ALMH 
			since 2009 by registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, 
			Jennifer DiPasquale and Sarah Tierney, a nurse diabetes educator.
 Because of the program’s structure, a limited number of participants 
			can enroll for each session.

 To participate, a physician’s order for DSME is required and 
			can be faxed to 217-732-3101.
 An Initial DSME Assessment must be completed at ALMH to be enrolled 
			in the program.
