Feb 9 (The Sports Xchange) - The
Arizona Coyotes reaffirmed their commitment to the Grand Canyon
State on Thursday while shooting down a local newspaper's report
that they were looking at arenas in the Pacific Northwest.
"Recent reports by the Glendale Star that the Coyotes ownership
group has explored arena options outside the Arizona market are
completely false," team president and CEO Anthony LeBlanc said in a
statement. "The Star referenced an anonymous arena source and an
anonymous Coyotes source, and these are a fabrication."
Relocation rumors cropped up after the Glendale Star reported that
representatives of the Coyotes had toured arenas in Seattle and
Portland in the past three months.
The Coyotes saw their plans to build a new 16,000-seat arena in
Tempe fall through last week after Arizona State University pulled
out of the potential deal.
