On Thursday evening, the Lincoln College Men's Volleyball
team hosted the St. Ambrose JV squad for two matches.
The first match saw the LC "B" team take on SAU in a best
two-of-three format. St. Ambrose survived a late charge by the Lynx
to take the first set 25-23. The Bees were able to carry the
momentum into the second set to win it 25-16.
Lincoln was led in kills by freshman outside hitter Kenny Koster
with four and set assists by sophomore Tony Silva who connected with
Lynx hitters 12 times for kills.
The second match of the evening used a best three-of-five format and
featured a dominating performance by the LC "A" team.
Lincoln controlled the tempo of play with steady passing, solid
blocking at the net and some aggressive offense to win the match in
three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-15). The Lynx used a balanced attack on
offense that saw six different players record three or more kills.

directed the offensive attack which was often started by on-target
passes from libero Dylan Russin. Orellana and Scott each tallied 11
set assists while Russin led all Lynx with 17 digs.

LC Coach Mark Tippett: "Our A team played another solid match from
start to finish. We were able to limit our unforced errors and force
St. Ambrose to volley with us, which was to our advantage in most
rotations. Our offense is clicking well and we are learning to cover
tips and block more effectively on defense. It is a positive sign to
see so many players contributing to our success instead of one or
two doing all work. That type of balance will serve us well in the
future."
