Millikin Football Team Names Letter Winners

[February 11, 2017]   DECATUR - Millikin University’s football team has named its 2016 varsity letter and award winners.

Senior offensive tackle Sean Nicholson (Niles, Notre Dame H.S.) was named the Big Blue’s Most Valuable Player.

Sophomore quarterback Nicco Stepina (Casey Westfield, H.S.) was selected as the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player and senior safety Mykal Neal (Broadview, Nazareth Academy) was chosen as the Defensive Most Valuable Player.

Junior Demetreeus Loper (Indianapolis, Indiana, Lawrence Central H.S.) was named the Special Teams Most Valuable Player.

Senior defensive end Travis Goveia (Downs, Tri-Valley H.S.) was presented the Big Blue Award. Freshman wide receiver David Jackson (St. Louis, Missouri, University H.S.) was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year and freshman linebacker Matt Brown (Champaign, Central H.S.) was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Sophomore offensive lineman Jimmy Montgomery (Indianapolis, Indiana, Perry Meridian H.S.) was named the Offensive Scout Team Most Valuable Player and sophomore defensive back Josh Scudder (Aurora, Waubonsie Valley H.S.) was selected as the Defensive Scout Team Most Valuable Player.

Stepina set a new Millikin record for passing throwing for 2,467 yards.
