            The Wellderly, as defined by
Eric Topol, M.D., are exceptional individuals who live into their
ninth decade and beyond without developing a significant medical
			condition. |

            | The Scripps Research Institute launched the “Wellderly Study” in
2007 in hopes of unlocking the genetic secrets behind lifelong
health. Research Chairman Michael Snyder, PhD states, “Most of the
world’s scientists are studying disease, but what we really want to
understand is what keeps us healthy. This is what the Wellderly
			Study is all about.”
The Cell magazine reports that a man named John Rawlings was part of
the study. He is a 90 year old Indiana native and World War II
veteran who started playing softball in his 70s and was inducted in
the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2009. He is also an
avid reader. Research has found that those that keep themselves
physically and mentally fit have a significantly lower risk for
			Alzheimer’s and coronary artery disease.

The Christian Village in Lincoln, is devoted to integrating
Wellderly activities throughout the Lincoln area. Sixty is now the
new Fifty and we believe that you can thrive as you age! And now,
research has shown the more you focus on thriving, the longer you
			will live!

We want to kick off this new way of living in the Lincoln area
with “The First Annual Logan County Wellderly Dance!” This event
will be held at the Lincoln Park District Ballroom on March 4th from
			6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
